JDSU Wins Best in Test Award for its Fiber Network Test Platform

JDSU today announced it won the 2010 Best in Test award from Test & Measurement World in the Communications Network Test category.

The JDSU T-BERD/MTS-4000 Multiple Services Test Platform was chosen for its exceptional ability to support technicians installing and maintaining access and fiber networks while ensuring quality delivery of voice, video and Internet services.

Best in Test finalists were selected by Test & Measurement World editors based on vendor nominations of products introduced between November 1, 2008, and October 31, 2009. Test & Measurement World readers then selected the winners by voting for their favorite in each of 17 categories. In addition, the product that receives the most votes overall will receive the 2010 Test Product of the Year.

“JDSU is proud to be recognized for innovation and technical expertise by editors and readers so close to our industry,” said Dave Holly, president of JDSU’s Communications Test and Measurement business segment.  “The JDSU T-BERD/MTS-4000 has a worldwide reputation for excellence when testing copper and fiber infrastructures, verifying service delivery, and evaluating the quality of service – giving providers the ability to deploy broadband with confidence.”

The T-BERD/MTS-4000 is a small, compact and handheld test platform designed for all phases of the network lifecycle, from the installation to the maintenance of Access/FTTx networks and triple-play services. Modular in design, the T-BERD/MTS-4000 offers field service technicians the highest performance and superior levels of scalability and upgradeability.  Other features include the ability to perform high-level copper qualification tests and combined Optical Time Domain Reflector (OTDR) and Passive Optical Network (PON) power level measurements.

In March 2010, JDSU also introduced the Enterprise Services Application Module (ESAM) for the T-BERD®/MTS-4000, providing the industry’s broadest range of enterprise test capabilities for IT organizations that maintain Ethernet/IP Local Area Networks and require a tool to quickly isolate and resolve network issues, which reduces network downtime, lost productivity, and associated costs.

Other JDSU finalist products in the Best in Test awards include the HP3-60-P4 Handheld Display System with Integrated Power Meter in the Fiber Optics category, the MVP-200 SimulTrackII Video Probe in the Audio/Video and Multimedia category, and the Xgig Protocol Analysis and Test Platform for SAS and SATA in the Computer Business Analyzer category.
