New Energy Efficient Glazing Available to Customers

Across the country, customers are signing up to supply the new energy efficient glazing, Pilkington energiKare. Since its launch in May, more than 100 companies have registered their interest in becoming partner companies to either manufacture or stock the new insulated glass unit (IGU) or offer windows containing Pilkington energiKare.

In conjunction with most framing materials, Pilkington energiKare easily exceeds the requirements for compliance of Part L of Building Regulations. One of the reasons it is proving so popular is the minimal process change for processors, helping window fabricators and installers achieve a Window Energy Rating (WER) of at least a C, hassle free.

Polar Windows Ltd, Independent Glass Co Ltd and Exeter Window Store are three companies who have joined the Pilkington energiKare revolution.

Polar Windows Ltd in Chesterfield was recently presented with its British Fenestration Ratings Council C rated windows certificate for its window, which is made from manufacturer Profile 22's FS Suite and glazed with Pilkington energiKare. Alan Crowe, Managing Director, Polar Windows said: "By entering into long term partnerships with the industry's leading supplier we have been able to guarantee our customers consistently high quality and uninterrupted supply. The launch of Pilkington energiKare coincided perfectly with the launch of our own energy saving window, and we are very optimistic about its potential."

Independent Glass Co Ltd, based in Glasgow, Scotland was particularly impressed with the marketing literature and technical advice offered as part of the Pilkington energiKare package. Managing Director John Devine Snr. said: "Pilkington energiKare is an innovative, yet simple way of meeting the criteria of a WER of A-C for the Energy Saving Trust's Energy Saving Recommended scheme. We believe this new IGU will be as popular as Pilkington Activ and so wanted to stock and sell its components from the very start.

Exeter Window Store has been stocking Pilkington products for ten years, and now supplies Pilkington energiKare to customers as standard. Rob Player, owner and partner of Exeter Window Store said: "I'm very impressed with Pilkington energiKare. We already supply Pilkington K Glass but the fact that Pilkington energiKare is a whole unit gives us a head start on the competition. It is clear to us that homeowners are looking for energy efficient glazing, especially since the introduction of Home Improvement Packs and Energy Performance Certificates. I want Exeter Window Store to be ahead of the game when it comes to promoting energy efficiency and low-E windows to customers."
