Those who are afraid of the dentist or suffering from life long dental issues caused by bad genetics or problems in the past, there's hope. The new FDA approved, patented laser protocol for gum disease is now on the market for the first time in South Florida and readily available in Pompano Beach.
Unlike other alternatives such as surgery, the PerioLase laser treatment offers patients comfort in treatment, with less pain and dramatically reduced healing time, allowing patients to continue with their daily lives. The procedure requires no cutting so there are no stitches. Other laser procedures such as waterlase and CO2 lasers cut things that are similar to water in color or contain water, making them great for incisions and cutting teeth, gums, and bone. However, "The PerioLase interacts with dark pigments so it is difficult to cut teeth, gums, and bone and, in essence, is "safer" around the bone and teeth. It has a reaction with bacteria, blood, etc. and is designed for treating gum disease," says Dr. Luchetefeld, a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and International Congress of Oral Implantologists, who has recently been nominated as one of "America's Top Dentists."
The PerioLase hand wand laser is directed into the root pocket, kills the bacteria, cleans the tarter, and then aids in coagulation, encouraging healthy bone regeneration and reattachment so teeth will be and look brighter, younger, and healthier. Gums are preserved, root exposure is reduced, and infection is eliminated. The procedure is reasonable and can be done within 2 visits, with alternating sides being done separately.
The LANAPTM has also been proven to be safe for patients with health concerns such as diabetes, HIV, hemophilia, or those taking medications such as Coumadin or Cyclosporin.
