Kodak Announces the incorporaion of Image Sensor Technology in Digital Cameras

Eastman Kodak Company announced today the first digital camera in its successful EASYSHARE line to incorporate the company's new, innovative CMOS image sensor technology.

The KODAK EASYSHARE C513 Camera is an entry-level camera designed to produce high-quality images no matter how experienced the photographer may be. The camera is based on the new KODAK KAC-05011 CMOS image sensor, which delivers the image quality and overall performance customers have come to expect from Kodak's EASYSHARE line of digital cameras while taking advantage of the power, integration and cost benefits associated with CMOS technology.

"The C513 provides consumers true value through easy-to-use and intuitive technology at an affordable price, thanks to the efficiencies that Kodak's CMOS technology has brought to camera design," said John Blake, General Manager, KODAK Digital Capture and Devices. "Traditionally, CMOS has allowed for lower cost camera design but was not able to provide top image quality. Kodak has changed that dynamic with the introduction of a digital camera at a remarkably affordable price without compromising image quality or camera function."

"Today's announcement validates our continued progress to become a leading mass-market supplier of next-generation CMOS image sensors," said Chris McNiffe, General Manager of Kodak's Image Sensor Solutions group. "Kodak camera customers expect both ease of use and performance from KODAK EASYSHARE cameras, and we are excited to provide this CMOS technology in a truly affordable and accessible device."

The KODAK EASYSHARE C513 Camera is equipped with 5-megapixel resolution and a 3x optical zoom lens, and offers special features to help capture clear, bright pictures and video. Pictures captured by this camera are displayed on a bright 2.4-inch indoor/outdoor LCD screen, perfect for sharing directly with friends and family. The camera's Digital Image Stabilization feature reduces blur caused by camera or subject movement as a still picture is being taken, and consumers can record life in motion using the video with audio capture feature and on-camera editing.

The 5.0 megapixel KODAK KAC-05011 CMOS image sensor was designed for use in the C513 camera, and provides excellent color reproduction and dynamic range with low electronic noise. The KODAK EASYSHARE C513 Camera will be available for less than US $99 (MSRP) in August 2007.
