Intevac Photonics Wins $7 Million Award to Develop 4 Mega-Pixel Low Light Sensor and Camera

Intevac Photonics, a subsidiary of Intevac, Inc., (Nasdaq:IVAC) announced today it has received a multi-year award from the U.S. Government in the amount of $7 million for the development of a four mega-pixel, low light level sensor and camera.

This sensor is based on Intevac’s patented EBAPS® (Electron Bombarded Active Pixel Sensor) design, which utilizes CMOS technology to produce digital imaging sensors for extreme low light level detection. Both the sensor and camera will be available for use in a variety of applications beginning in 2011.

“We are very pleased to receive this award for the development of a four mega-pixel EBAPS sensor and associated camera,” commented Joe Pietras, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Intevac Photonics. “This sensor will expand our family of digital EBAPS sensors into larger formats, extending Intevac’s position as the leading supplier of extreme low light level digital sensors required for U.S. military applications.”
