NextWindow, the market and technology leader in optical touch screens for all-in-one PCs, monitors and large-format displays, today announced it has added several PC manufacturers as new clients. NextWindow is now engaged with many of the top PC manufacturers to build optical touch screens for soon-to-be available all-in-one computers. Many of the new PCs will go on sale this fall in conjunction with the launch of Microsoft Windows 7, the first-ever touch-enabled operating system.
Last month NextWindow became the first optical touch screen vendor to announce Windows 7 logo certification, a key milestone that demonstrates NextWindow's commitment to supporting the needs of PC manufacturers. NextWindow already has developed optical touch screens for all-in-one PCs from Dell and Hewlett-Packard.
NextWindow recently completed its business first quarter for fiscal year 2010 and revenue exceeded the company's expectations. NextWindow attributes its fast growth to widespread consumer interest in touch-enabled computers. Dell and HP are largely credited with validating the touch screen PC market.
NextWindow is succeeding in the touch screen PC market due to a technology advantage which it bolstered in Q1 by announcing the receipt of two new patent awards for optical touch screen technology. The company also reinforced support for PC manufacturers and original design manufacturers in Asia by opening a new operations headquarters in Singapore. These measures, coupled with OEM wins and other manufacturing accomplishments, combined to increase NextWindow's share of the touch screen market, which analyst firm DisplaySearch is forecasting will grow to $9 billion by 2015.
"The development of touch-based personal computer systems can already be seen in both end markets as well as in the supply chain. In fact, more personal computing products which incorporate touch either as a primary or a supplementary interface for personal computing - beyond simply the mouse and keyboard - are seen in the pipeline than ever before," notes Chris Connery, vice-president of PC and Large Format Commercial Displays for DisplaySearch. "Touch screen manufacturers that figure to benefit most from such a development trend are those that have rich patent portfolios, Windows 7 logo certification and existing relationships with leading PC manufacturers."
"Though we are still a relatively small company, we are growing rapidly because of our first-mover advantage with OEMs and because optical technology offers significant benefits over competitive technologies," said Al Monro, CEO at NextWindow. "While it's unclear just how fast the market will grow, there can be little doubt that touch screen PCs for home and business use are the wave of the future. NextWindow is very excited to be uniquely positioned to serve this market for many years to come."
