Avo Photonics, a custom design and contract manufacturing company specializing in optical packaging, announces that on April 16, 2009 it was granted ISO 9001:2008 certification.
“This certification demonstrates and affirms Avo’s dedication to providing products and services that meet or exceed our customer’s expectations” said Dr. Joseph Dallas, President and Founder of Avo Photonics, Inc.
The ISO 9000 family of standards represents an international consensus of good quality management practices. ISO 9001:2008 is the very latest standard that establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System. This standard is flexible across many industries and company sizes and is ideally suited to a diversified company such as Avo Photonics.
Avo utilized the services of DNV (Det Norske Veritas), as the official accreditation body. Dr. Jeff Perkins, Vice President of Operations at Avo commented that “DNV offers additional value by providing detailed interpretive guidelines. Avo’s goal was not just to pass ISO standards, but to truly offer our customers the improved benefits of an ISO9001 compliant QMS.”
Avo Photonics’ certification was issued for the corporate headquarters in Horsham, PA as well as for its design verification center located in Toronto, Canada.
“Working through the ISO accreditation process was an affirmation of existing Avo procedures” commented Dr. Perkins. “Avo Photonics is deeply focused on following its Quality Policy Statement:
“We are committed to meet or exceed our customer expectations in product design, service, and delivery. We are focused on continually improving our Quality Management System.”
“In this climate of uncertain economic activity, Avo Photonics is experiencing significant business growth,” commented Dr. Dallas. “Formal ISO accreditation further strengthens the Avo message and is a clear signal to our customers that we are dedicated to their success and long term relationship.”
