VueMetrix Inc. today announced the release of the Vue-LV-15, a 15A high performance, low cost laser diode controller based on a powerful new microprocessor and a proprietary current control algorithm.
The new product features an all digital control system that uses a precise crystal oscillator time base for direct computer control of its switching power stage. A patent-pending software algorithm produces extremely low noise current without dangerous overshoots or start-up delays. Improved long term performance and immunity to environmental conditions are a direct result of minimizing the use of analog components such as op-amps, capacitors and resistors that can fail, age, or exhibit temperature dependence.
This new controller is a highly integrated system incorporating advanced laser diode safety, monitoring and control features in a compact form factor ready for design-in into commercial systems. According to Eric Smoker, VueMetrix vice president for marketing and sales, “Our customers will benefit from the improved performance, higher reliability, and lower costs. Plus the Vue-LV-15 is easy to integrate with a variety of interface options: RS-232, USB, TTL or analog inputs.”
The Vue-LV-15 is available as an OEM PCB only option or as an OEM starter kit. The starter kit combines the 5V power supply, mating output connector and the WinVue user interface software. This makes it easy for system designers and integrators to operate it as simply as a bench top controller and accelerate their product development. Once proven in during the product development cycle, the user can opt to switch to the lower cost PCB only option for production. Using the same controller in development and production means faster time-to-market, lower cost, reduced BOM, and improved system reliability.
The Vue-LV-15 is the latest addition to the VueMetrix portfolio of laser diode control systems, subsystems and software. VueMetrix’s products address the needs of a variety of industrial, commercial and research markets and include laser diode-pumped solid state laser controllers with multiple TEC drivers, multi-channel laser diode drivers, high current laser diode and TEC controllers, and high compliance controllers for laser diode bars and stacks.
