Coherent, Inc. has introduced the AVIA 532-30 which delivers over 30 watts of green (532 nm) output, making it the highest power industrial laser available at this wavelength.
This q-switched, diode-pumped laser is designed to meet the needs of high-throughput materials processing as well as demanding scientific applications. The AVIA 532-30 features excellent beam quality (TEM 00 , M 2 < 1.3) and can be operated with pulse repetition rates from single shot up to 150 kHz, with a pulsewidth as short as 45 ns.
This new laser is the latest member of the AVIA family of field-proven industrial lasers based on harmonic generation of Nd doped gain media. It utilizes the same resonator design and advanced manufacturing methods to deliver long term stability, high reliability, and ease of operation. These include PermAlign TM , a proprietary solder-bonding technology for securely mounting all the resonator optics, as well as long-lived AAA - (Aluminum-free Active Area) pump laser diodes. The laser is simple to operate and integrate thanks to the use of Total Pulse Control, a comprehensive software suite that enables customized pulse control and power on demand.
Primary applications for the AVIA 532-30 are in precision micromachining (drilling, cutting, scribing, marking and other surface treatments) in the microelectronics industry. The 532 nm output is an optimum wavelength for processing semiconductors, as it produces a minimal heat affected zone (HAZ), and is also useful for numerous synthetics, plastics, ceramics, and precious metals. These applications will benefit from the high average output power that translates into faster processing and higher yields. In addition, the beam quality and short wavelength deliver high spatial resolution, enabling the creation of smaller features. The laser is also ideal for remote sensing and power-hungry scientific applications.
