Conference to Discuss Lighting's Future

The 2008 IES Annual Conference will be held November 9-11 in Savannah, Ga. where Day-Brite Lighting is a corporate sponsor. The theme for this year's conference will be "Day and Night An Exploration of Light" and will focus on "the impact of light on our daytime and nighttime lives," said Nick Bleeker, IES conference steering committee chairman and director of business development for Day-Brite Capri Omega.

The industry's most innovative leaders will speak on a wide range of topics from human-centered design to transformational technology. Attendees will not only learn about the shape of things to come for the lighting industry, they will have a chance to pick up some fascinating facts about Savannah's colorful past.

Brad Waycaster, HID product development manager for Day-Brite Lighting will present his paper, "HID Electronic Ballasts: a Luminaire Designer's Perspective", in the poster session at the IES Annual Conference. His remarks are primarily directed to designers and manufacturers, but specifiers may be interested in hearing a luminaire manufacturer's point of view and getting a chance to ask questions in the informal question and answer period.

Waycaster will discuss advantages of HID ballasts and of the lamp itself. He will also raise some issues and make some suggestions aimed at encouraging ballast designers to think outside the box. "Fixture designers will continue to make improvements on new and existing products and use HID electronic ballasts. If the electronic ballast designers can address the issues, both industries will be able to deliver superior products to the market," said Waycaster.
