Revolutionary SiC Photodiodes for Superior Deep UVC Detection

Marktech’s new SiC photodiodes are engineered to provide high sensitivity for accurately detecting deep UVC wavelengths. Their wavelength sensitivity range is 220 nm to 358 nm, ideal for applications requiring stringent monitoring and control of UVC light sources. Their visible light or solar blind properties ensure they are unaffected by ambient light, allowing precise UVC measurements without interference.

These new UVC detectors are available in two hermetic package types:

  • TO-46 metal can – part number MT12-001
  • ATLAS hermetic surface mount (SMD) package - MTSM1057SMF2-046

The hermetic characteristics of TO-can and our proprietary ATLAS package protect the compound semiconductor photodiode chip from the damaging effects of moisture, oxygen, gases, and other vapors – ensuring consistent performance over a long lifetime.

Key Features and Benefits of the New SiC Photodiodes

  • Solar Blind Characteristics: These photodiodes are insensitive to visible and solar light, ensuring accurate detection of UVC light in diverse environmental conditions.
  • High Sensitivity and Precision: The SiC material enables exceptional sensitivity and precision in detecting deep UVC wavelengths, enhancing the effectiveness of UVC monitoring systems.
  • Broad Application Range: Ideal for use in air and surface sterilization, water purification, and analytical instrumentation, these photodiodes support various critical applications that require reliable UVC detection.
  • Durability and Reliability: Designed for long-term use, Marktech’s SiC photodiodes offer robust performance with high resistance to environmental degradation.

Marktech Optoelectronics continues to lead the way in UV technology by providing innovative solutions that address the complex challenges faced by design engineers and health safety professionals today. The new dual-chip UVC LEDs are now available, offering next-level performance in water-quality sensors and high-reliability germicidal applications.

"These new SiC photodiodes represent a significant advancement in UVC detection technology," said Vince Forte, Chief Technology Officer at Marktech Optoelectronics. "Their ability to accurately detect 235 nm and 255 nm UVC wavelengths without interference from visible light positions them as a crucial component in any UVC monitoring system."
