MKS Instruments, Inc., a global provider of enabling technologies that transform our world, has announced the Newport™ TLS260B Tunable Light Sources, a series of compact, fully-assembled, pre-aligned illumination solutions. These unified light sources provide a turnkey method for easily generating and manipulating monochromatic light using a single instrument.
The TLS260B sources provide white light or monochromatic light from 300 nm to 1800 nm, with spectral resolution as fine as 0.5 nm. They feature faster scan speeds, increased output power, and dual output port options with the integrated, high-performance Newport CS260B Monochromator. Designed by Oriel, the industry standard in light source solutions for over 50 years, the TLS260B sources are ideal for spectroscopy, materials research, and sensor/device characterization applications.
For optimum uncertainty values, the TLS260B tunable light sources include a full spectral response curve characterized by NIST-traceable photodetectors with pre-aligned optics. All the necessary interconnection cables are included, and all the hardware is mounted securely to the TLS baseplate. Dual output port options are available, enabling the use of two persistent experiments on the same tunable light source platform.
"Customers are looking for ways to simplify the ordering and setup process for what is otherwise a complex light source solution," said Reuven Silverman, General Manager, Ophir Photonics. "The Newport TLS260B is the answer. The latest innovation from the experts at Oriel is a single-SKU light source that's pre-assembled to reduce initial set-up time. Users can choose between higher output power or higher resolution with interchangeable fixed slits. We also offer customers the option of dual output ports for running two persistent experiments. This increases throughput time on the instrument and saves the customer set-up/tear-down time compared to other sources that provide only one output port."
Newport TracQ Radiometric Basic Control and Data Acquisition software is included as standard with the product. TracQ is a complete radiometry system control software capable of displaying real-time data acquisition. No prior knowledge of software programming is necessary to install or operate TracQ. Some of the scans made possible with the TLS by TracQ include Time Interval, Lamp Radiometry, Optical Power, Absorbance, and Transmittances.
The TLS260B tunable light sources can be tailored to users' optical path needs, all within one comprehensive source. The universal 1.5-inch and 1-inch output flanges provide access to the widest range of accessories and complimentary optics within the Newport.com catalog. Adding a Newport power meter detection instrument to the TLS system offers a unified radiometric system on a single platform. Customers can then choose from a variety of Newport photodetector material types to best match their needs, including calibrated detectors designed for integrating sphere applications.
For those who are unable to use a PC-based control scheme, such as in locations where security is pivotal (e.g., defense facilities, universities, government labs), Newport offers a hand controller accessory for an intuitive way to manipulate the light output. Simply plug the Newport 74009 hand controller into the remote port on the CS260B monochromator, and a variety of parameters can be quickly adjusted, such as order sorting filters, shutter control, tuned wavelength, and output port selection.
