TeraXion Inc. , a technology leader in the development and manufacturing of optical components for high-speed communication networks, today announced that it has shipped over 600 tunable chromatic dispersion compensation modules to date, establishing it as the clear market leader in this rapidly growing segment of the 10 and 40 Gb/s DWDM component market.
TeraXion's TDC is part of the company's ClearSpectrum™ portfolio of OEM dispersion compensators.
The move towards higher line rates and greater re-configurability in the network are driving the requirement for more flexible dispersion management solutions. The ClearSpectrum™-TDC enables 40 Gb/s transmission links by managing residual dispersion at DWDM terminals. The field-proven device can also be deployed at nodes in reconfigurable optical transport systems to perform simultaneous dispersion trimming of multiplexed DWDM channels. The TDC is a fully integrated optical module powered by TeraXion's established multi-channel fiber Bragg grating technology. This low loss device offers a large dispersion tuning range and wide bandwidth to support any 40 Gb/s modulation format. Its dispersion level is accurately controlled using standard digital communication interfaces.
“TeraXion has been successfully delivering its tunable dispersion compensator for over three years,” said Dr. Martin Guy, Vice President of Product Management and Technology at TeraXion. “Sales have been accelerating recently as we continue to support the deployment programs of leading 40 Gb/s equipment manufacturers.”
The ClearSpectrum™-TDC will be on display during the 2006 ECOC exhibition, September 25-27th in Cannes, France. A number of technical papers demonstrating the system performance of TeraXion's family of ClearSpectrum™ products will also be presented during the conference.
