CoreOptics Announces Availability of a 40 Gb/s Serializer/Deserializer Chipset

CoreOptics Inc., a leading designer and manufacturer of 10/40/100 Gb/s optical networking subsystems, today announced availability of a 40 Gb/s Serializer/Deserializer chipset.

“CoreOptics has been a strategic partner for the service providers and system vendors in the telecommunications industry for over seven years. Our commitment to network level Capex/Opex reduction is backed by significant level of investment in digital signal processing ICs that enable higher performance while lowering the total cost of ownership for optical transport at 10 and 40 Gb/s. This chipset will finally enable the deployment of the most cost effective 40 Gb/s networks for service providers,” said Hamid Arabzadeh, Chairman of the board, President and CEO of CoreOptics. “This new product offering at 40 Gb/s completes our portfolio of building blocks for system vendors and demonstrates our continued commitment to develop high performance, highly reliable digital signal processing IC’s for use in 10/40/100 Gb/s systems.”

This chip set utilizes state of the art silicon technology to achieve unprecedented levels of integration while at the same time minimizing power dissipation and footprint. In addition, the implementation of adaptive algorithms, embedded micro-controllers and programmable interfaces translates into a level of performance and flexibility unrivaled in the industry.

“The 40 Gb/s Serializer/Deserializer chipset is a fundamental building block for both the client side and line side interfaces in all DWDM applications for all transponder and discrete implementations,” said Dr. Daryl Inniss, Vice President of Components, Ovum. “By providing this chip set to the wider market, CoreOptics have addressed a major concern of single-source/security of supply for the existing 40G deployments.”

By integrating various pre-coding functionality and at much reduced power consumption and form/factor, CoreOptics Gb/s Serializer/Deserializer offering from the technology and cost perspectives sets a new benchmark in the industry.

CoreOptics currently offers 10 Gb/s DWDM, 40 Gb/s Single Channel Short Reach and 40/43G DWDM transponder modules. The company’s product portfolio also includes 43 Gb/s Ultra-FEC, 40GMux/DeMux for 4x10G client signals and Interface Converter supporting SFI-5s, SFI-4, and XFI to enable building of next generation Open Tolerant Networks.

The company’s world class technology is “field-proven” and is in large scale deployment with major tier-1 customers globally.
