MICRO-LAM, Inc. Acquires 603OPTX, Inc Both Companies to Expand Range of Offerings

Micro-LAM, Inc., a manufacturer of laser-assisted machining systems for ultra-precision CNC Machining, has acquired 603OPTX, Inc., an optical fabrication company specializing in the fabrication of precision optical components. The acquisition aims to extend R&D, prototyping and preproduction capabilities to Micro-LAM customers, and further support them with optional production and fabrication expertise through 603OPTX’s turn-key capabilities.

Micro-LAM, Inc. manufactures innovative cutting technologies that equip precision machines with a hybrid laser-diamond cutting system. CEO Deepak Ravindra, Ph.D., notes that the acquisition will make Micro-LAM a stronger partner to their existing and prospective customers by providing additional support and services specially targeted toward addressing their customer’s challenges. “This was a strategic move for us, focusing on building more synergy with our customers by offering new products and processes such as diamond-turning glass optics.” He added, “With the high level of expertise held by 603OPTX, we can continue to support customers by delivering top-quality turn-key solutions for complex geometry optics, utilizing hard-to-machine materials.”

Shawn Voisine, President of 603OPTX, noted that both companies share a dedication to continued customer service and support, as well to provide high quality, precise optical components. “Our employees have unparalleled experience in providing turn-key solutions. Both teams agree that optical fabrication companies who are either expanding into new applications or simply tightening their capital spending budgets will benefit from this move as the need for complex, innovative optics that can be quickly delivered continues to grow. Users needing expanded capabilities can design and prototype new optical products without additional capital investment. Deepak noted, “Combining the forces and expertise between the laser-assisted technology group, our ultra-precision cutting tool division in the UK, M10 Edge Ltd., and the fabrication expertise at 603, customers can now envision a highly innovative experience, geared toward de-risking customers while providing them with a competitive edge.” The companies begin working together in January 2021.
