Newest Deep UV LED product in the Optan line of high-performance and long lifetime UVC LEDs brings improved flexibility in instrumentation applications
Crystal IS's newest Optan product is a deep UV LED in a TO-39 package with a flat window. Like the recently introduced Optan ball lens (BL) and surface mount devices (SMD), the high-performance UVC LED is based on native Aluminum Nitride (AlN) substrates, Crystal IS's award winning, proprietary technology. Optan is the only lattice matched commercial UVC LED available today. Optan provides a unique technology platform for increased detection sensitivity, proven to overcome limitations of other UVC LEDs in the market as well as traditional UV lamps including deuterium and xenon flash lamps.
Optan Flat Window:
- Has a wider viewing angle than other Optan packages for easier alignment to fiber coupled designs in analytical and life science instruments.
- Provides users with high reliability and performance, a signature of Optan devices, and lowers cost of ownership in sensors for process monitoring, a requirement in applications in industrial processes and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Is a long lifetime LED, housed in a package to preserve lambertian emission. Because flat window packaging does not focus the light from the chip, users have maximum flexibility and full control over the optical path to fit their needs.

As soon as we introduce a new Optan package, our customers come back with even more ways they'd like to replace traditional UV lamps with UVC LEDs. "We are thrilled to be a trusted partner and we're pleased to be providing the technology needed for the next generation of analytical and life science instruments.
Larry Felton - CEO, Crystal IS
Optan Flat Window can be used to monitor processes in industrial manufacturing; clean-in-place operations in the food and beverage processing industry; and in chromatographic processes used in protein purification and pharmaceutical manufacturing. In these processes and industries, UVC LED based sensors have been shown to lower costs, increase productivity and meet regulatory and quality control requirements.
