Photron, Inc., a global leader and manufacturer of high-speed cameras and image analysis software, introduces the FASTCAM Mini AX50.
The new camera provides full 1,024 x 1,024 pixel resolution at up to 2,000 frames per second with unprecedented light sensitivity, ISO 40,000 monochrome and 16,000 color as measured to the true (no “T” values) ISO 12232 Ssat standard.
According to Andrew Bridges, Photron’s director of sales and marketing, “We are very pleased to offer the new Mini AX series with its remarkable performance and superior light sensitivity. The importance of higher light sensitivity means that less additional lighting is required when capturing a high-speed event. Moreover, it means that faster frame rates, shorter shutter speeds, and greater depths of field are provided under equivalent lighting conditions.”
Other FASTCAM AX50 camera features include high frame rate with excellent image quality and 4GB, 8GB, and/or 16 GB memory options. The high-performance Gigabit Ethernet interface makes it easy to view and analyze the slow motion video data from a desktop or laptop PC.
The rugged, single-body camera design is compact, only 120 mm (4.7 in.) H x 120 mm (4.7 in.) W x 94 mm (3.7 in.) D, and lightweight at 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs.), making it well suited for demanding high-speed imaging tasks in industrial, military, and laboratory settings. Application areas include biomechanics, material sciences, defense/aerospace research, life sciences, fluidics (PIV), and offboard automotive safety testing.
