Arborlight, a leading developer of advanced LED technology, took home top honors for new smart lighting technology with the announcement of the inaugural LEDs Magazine Sapphire Award winners at a Gala dinner held in conjunction with the Strategies in Light conference in Las Vegas. Arborlight was announced the winner in the category of Smart SSL (Solid-state Lighting) Technology.
The night of Feb. 25, 2015 marked the celebration of innovation in the LED and SSL industry sectors. Companies working across these sectors nominated well over 100 products from more than 10 countries to the Sapphire program. Finalists across 13 categories were selected by judges and identified in late January. On Gala night, the best of the best took home the Sapphire trophies during an evening celebration.
Arborlight's top new smart technology honor is especially noteworthy considering the established competitors in the category such as CREE and Phillips Color Kinetics. "Arborlight's new technology earned some of the highest scores in the entire competition," commented Maury Wright, Editor-in-Chief of LEDs Magazine. "It is cool and adds a completely new dimension to lighting," Wright added.
On hand to receive the award was Michael Forbis, CEO of Arborlight. "Recognition of this magnitude is sincerely appreciated," said Forbis. "It serves to validate the ground-breaking nature of Arborlight's new technology," Forbis continued. Of note, Arborlight's technology team were also finalists in the Illumineer of the Year award category.
Arborlight's LightWell 16 SSL Daylight Emulation™ technology crosses the boundaries of smart lighting and human-centric lighting (HCL), simulating natural daylight in terms of color, intensity, and directionality throughout the day, including adjustments for the time of year and geo-location. Packaged in skylight architectural fixtures, users can wirelessly tune color, intensity and time to their preference using smart phones or other wireless devices and computers.
Arborlight's ground breaking technology should prove beneficial for human well-being and productivity in countless applications and environments such as office, health care, education, military and more.
