ADVA 100G Core Deployed by Televorgu in Trans-European Network

ADVA Optical Networking announced today that Televõrgu AS has deployed the ADVA 100G Core to connect Northern and Eastern European countries to Central Europe over a route running through the Baltic States and Poland.

Fully integrated into the ADVA FSP 3000, the ADVA 100G Core uses coherent detection technology and RAMAN amplification to transport up to 9.6Tbit/s of data across 3,000km of fiber without regeneration and without any dispersion compensation. Together with flexgrid reconfigurable add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) technology, this system is ready to carry future bandwidth services, such as 400Gbit/s, across the whole fiber route that stretches from Frankfurt, Germany to Tallinn, Estonia.

"Our new route has been extremely well received by customers, and almost 20% of the whole capacity is already in use" said Ove Ant, CEO, Televõrgu. "This network provides a lot of new opportunities in means of features, future deployments and services. This definitely sets us on a lead position on a transmission services market."

"We are happy to have a vendor and a partner that is continuously willing to improve and pays a lot of attention to innovation and performance. Coming from an energy background, high availability, robust design and reliability has always been Televõrgu's main focus when providing services to our customers," said Kaida Kaeval, head of network, Televõrgu. "The ADVA 100G Core enables us to achieve outstanding performance thanks to smart amplifier design, less modules and optimized node placement across the route. With its moderate power consumption and fully automated GMPLS-based control plane, we are confident about the platform's capabilities in bringing excellent value to Televõrgu and our customers."

Developing Televõrgu's trans-European network was no small task. The exacting technology requirements, the challenging time frame and the demanding logistical specifications necessitated swift and dynamic action. ADVA Optical Networking began by developing a test network in its Meiningen campus. Staging the network in this dedicated environment enabled Televõrgu to test and evaluate every aspect of the deployment, including its physical performance and the software management. Once the testing was complete, the network was rapidly deployed and ADVA Optical Networking's optical transport technology is now carrying live data across multiple countries.

"Televõrgu is a company that is continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible," commented Christoph Glingener, CTO, ADVA Optical Networking. "This is what excites our team. With Televõrgu's trans-European network, we were able to showcase what our ADVA 100G Core can do. Transporting 9.6Tbit/s of data over 3,000km with no regeneration and with no dispersion compensation is a significant achievement. And with the flexibility of our ROADM technology, Televõrgu now has an incredibly powerful and dynamic long-haul infrastructure. This network will enable Televõrgu to take its business to new heights and will provide its customers with incredible new opportunities. We can't wait to see how this develops."
