Opgal Optronic Industries, developers of the Therm-App™ mobile thermal imaging camera, and Lumus Ltd., developers of see-through wearable near-to-eye displays, have joined forces to provide mobile long-range night-vision capabilities.
The Therm-App™ mobile device, mounted on headgear, transmits the high-resolution images to the Lumus wearable display, providing the user with a large, high-quality image.
"The combination of these two breakthrough technologies — Therm-App™ night vision with Lumus wearable displays — presents an exciting, and more importantly, useful solution for professionals who require hands-free operation in complete darkness or limited visibility," said Amit Mattatia, President & CEO of Opgal. "This innovative solution provides security teams, search and rescue first responders, and other types of professionals working in darkness with lightweight, portable and powerful night vision capabilities," added Mattatia.
"The combined solution of the Therm-App™ and Lumus eyewear demonstrates how our patented Light-guide Optical Element (LOE) technology allows for a new level of comfort, style and effectiveness for night vision applications, which can be utilized in numerous applications," said Dr. Eli Glikman, Chief Product Officer of Lumus Ltd.
The companies will be presenting the new mobile imaging solution at the SPIE exhibition taking place in Baltimore, U.S.A. on 6-8 May.
