SPECIM wins 1.7 MEUR transformational deal with the Geological Survey of Sweden

Scans and analyses 200 km hyperspectral imaging data of drill core archives

The Geological Survey of Sweden (SGU) has signed a contract with SPECIM for one of the world’s largest optical and mineralogical core scanning projects. Together with its South-African partner GeoSpectral Imaging (GSI), SPECIM will scan and analyze 200 km of hyperspectral imaging data of archived drill core.

The scanning will capture VNIR, SWIR and LWIR (*) wavelength spectral images as well as High Resolution RGB image, all in a single scan. The project will result in a uniform national drill core data base for further macro-analysis.

The information - freely available on internet - will be of great value for exploration, research and mapping” said Kaj Lax, Head of Mineral Resources department, Geological Survey of Sweden.
