P&P Optica’s SWIR Spectrometer Wins 2013 R&D 100 Award

P&P Optica Inc., has been named a winner of the 2013 R&D 100 Awards by R&D Magazine for its breakthrough Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) Spectrometer - The PPO SWIR. The R&D 100 Award recognizes the top technology products of the year, and this year the PPO SWIR was chosen for the "Oscars for Innovation," as one of the most revolutionary, newly introduced technologies to the market. This is the second consecutive year P&P Optica has won an R&D 100 award.

PPO SWIR SPECTROMETER

The exceptionally high throughput capabilities of P&P Optica's recently unveiled SWIR systems have proven to be highly effective in chemical detection, mineral mapping, sorting, grading and quality control. P&P Optica's holistic, value focused approach to system design, combined with its superior gel gratings result in a high SNR of 16000:1, meeting the most challenging inspection needs. The PPO SWIR covers a spectral range of 800 nm to 2500 nm providing a robust solution for industrial process control, defense and security and mining applications.

The PPO SWIR system opens up many cost effective possibilities for P&P Optica's customers, like the ability to employ standoff detection, use faster, wider conveyor belts, or inspect more complex and varied materials. "The PPO SWIR can differentiate plastics from a distance of 2 meters away, on a 2 meter wide conveyor moving at a speed of 3 m/sec," states P&P Optica Inc. CEO Olga Pawluczyk. The PPO SWIR offers high throughput and high spectral and spatial resolution, delivering unmatched performance for sorting recyclable plastics, raw materials, and food sorting.

Winners of the R&D 100 Awards are selected by an independent judging panel and the editors of R&D Magazine. The 51st Annual R&D 100 Banquet and Awards Presentation will be held on November 7th, 2013, in Orlando, Fla, where P&P Optica will be recognized for the PPO SWIR.
