Neonode Inc., the optical touch technology company, announced today the cooperation with CheonJo Corp., a leading LCD module manufacturer in South Korea. CheonJo will initially integrate Neonode’s Multisensing® technology into high-margin 15-inch outdoor touch displays for bank ATM’s, estimated to go into production towards the end of this year.
“We are very excited about the cooperation with CheonJo. This license agreement is a merit for us, as it represents a high-royalty business, and also our entry in to the fast growing digital signage, outdoor and larger display market,” says Thomas Eriksson, Neonode CEO.
Neonode’s Multisensing solution provides an unmatched high speed and accuracy, and is designed to withstand frequent use and wear. The technology is resistant to false touches caused by dust, grime or water droplets, which is a prerequisite for open-air displays. Furthermore, the design allows for any object input, such as pens or styluses, and enables excellent optical clarity – an important factor for outdoor displays that are exposed to sunlight.
Thomas Eriksson continues, “There is a towering demand for high-performance touch technologies for outdoor applications, where Neonode’s strong-featured Multisensing solution enables a radically improved user experience that facilitates a highly responsive, no-glare user interface. In addition, the robust design could also minimize potential hardware damage like scratches and dents caused by frequent outdoor usage. We are looking forward to a close cooperation with the CheonJo team”, Eriksson concludes.
“Due to the high safety requirements surrounding this industry – products for banking systems – it is exceedingly important for us to choose a partner that can deliver a reliable, tested and failsafe touch technology to our products. We have chosen Neonode’s Multisensing technology, as it will improve our high-end products with a high sensitivity multi-touch solution. The Neonode Multisensing solution is a perfect match for us as it exhibits excellent performance, with a smooth user experience – even with gloves. Furthermore, it can withstand extreme weather conditions and is optimized for future functions such as pen or stylus input,” says Mr. SeokHee Park, CEO and founder of CheonJo Corp.
