IDS Imaging Development Systems, a global leader in medical and machine vision, announced today that it is extending its Ensenso™ N10 compact stereo 3D camera portfolio with 24 new versions featuring focal lengths from 3.6mm to 16mm to cover more distances and sizes.
Free software supplied with the new camera makes it easy to integrate Ensenso cameras into virtually any application program, including the ability of combine multiple Ensenso cameras or to calibrate Ensenso cameras with other IDS uEye™ color cameras to provide color texture to the rendered projection.
Like the original IDS Ensenso™ N10 cameras introduced at the VISION 2012 exhibition in Stuttgart, Germany, the new cameras are compact, synchronized systems that provide metric 3D data "out of the box" with no additional calibration required. They come equipped with two global shutter CMOS sensors and an integrated projector that casts a random pattern of dots onto the object being captured. This "Projected Texture Stereo Vision" method allows the capture of untextured surfaces and, unlike other 3D methods, can also function in multi-camera mode. Ensenso cameras can capture stationary objects and live images of moving objects.
Despite two sensors and an integral projector, Ensenso™ cameras measure a mere 150 x 45 x 45 mm. With a robust aluminum housing and GPIO connector for 12-24V hardware trigger/input/ output, this camera is ideal for industrial applications. Rugged performance is further strengthened by a screw-in 3 pin M8 sensor/actuator connector and screw-in USB connection.
All Ensenso cameras come with a free C++ SDK and comprehensive viewer application. The SDK provides full access to the 3D point cloud data.
IDS now offers an interactive Ensenso™ Camera Selector on its website to help customers find the ideal camera for highly specific requirements. For more information, call (781) 787-0048 or visit www.ids-imaging.com. E-mail: [email protected].
