Digital Lumens announced today that its Intelligent LED Lighting System has earned an impressive 4.5 stars (out of a possible five) in the Environmental Leader Technology Reviews program, underscoring the company's industry-leading position in the development and deployment of networked LED lighting that delivers up to 90 percent lighting energy savings to commercial and industrial customers around the world.
In reviewing Digital Lumens' intelligent lighting, one judge commented, "The Intelligent Lighting System combines two existing technologies -- LED and lighting controls -- into a single package. For warehouse or distribution facilities which have not yet made the switch to efficient lighting or controls, getting both products in a single package would lead to a significant improvement in energy efficiency in a single project."
In addition, another judge noted that the Digital Lumens technology combines "a number of innovative and cost saving/energy saving features which make this LED lighting system unique. The combination of these unique features makes this LED system stand out."
The Environmental Leader Technology Reviews is a program recognizing excellence in products and services that provide companies with energy and environmental benefits. Scores were determined by a panel of independent judges from companies including PepsiCo, Staples, the University of California Berkeley, ISS Facilities Services, The Green Grid, LNS Research, Owens Corning, Yahoo! Inc., GlaxoSmithKline, Legrand, Petco and New Belgium Brewing Company.
With today's crowded playing field, energy and sustainability professionals have a notoriously difficult time knowing what products to choose to help their companies increase energy, environmental and sustainability performance. The Environmental Leader Technology Reviews program gives companies a solid base of products, vetted by experts, from which to choose.
"The caliber of the entries was impressive, and truly showed the innovation taking place in the industry today," says Paul Nastu, publisher of Environmental Leader. "The judges had their work cut out for them. It was a tough playing field for those that entered, and the products that scored 3.5 stars or higher are those that the judges say have viable attributes that set them apart from others in the field."
"We are pleased and honored to be among the top-scoring technology companies named in Environmental Leader's awards program," said Digital Lumens CEO Tom Pincince. "The recognition of our peers in the industry is hard-won, and motivates us to continue to innovate and deliver game-changing lighting technologies to our customers and to the world."
The news follows a strong start to 2013 for Digital Lumens, which announced additional funding to fuel growth into new sectors and the appointment of a new senior business development executive whose experience includes a leadership role at GE. With more than 500 large-scale installations of its Intelligent LED Lighting System, more than doubling the number reported last year, Digital Lumens is now saving customers more than $25 million per year by reducing their combined annual energy consumption by over 250 million kWh.
