Spectra-Physics Introduces New Scientific Lasers at SPIE Photonics West 2013

Spectra-Physics®, a Newport Corporation brand, introduces two industry-leading scientific lasers at SPIE Photonics West 2013. The new high power Matisse® is the industry’s highest power tunable, single-frequency laser with over 6.5 W of output and narrowest 60 kHz external linewidth.

The new Solstice® is a one-box ultrafast amplifier that produces <50 femtosecond (fs) pulses in the kHz repetition rate regime and doubles the peak power at > 70 GW. These new products expand Spectra-Physics’ proven portfolio of scientific and ultrafast lasers.

“These new lasers highlight the range of Spectra-Physics’ portfolio of industry-leading scientific lasers, from the new single-frequency continuous wave (CW) to new short-pulse ultrafast lasers,” states Julien Klein, senior manager, product marketing for Spectra-Physics. “As the ultrafast and scientific lasers leader, Spectra-Physics has the broadest range of technologies, serving the widest scope of applications with the industry’s largest installed base.”

The high power Matisse laser is pumped with the recently introduced Millennia® eV™ to maximize performance. Combined with its near diffraction-limited TEM00 beam quality, the new Matisse laser is perfect for applications such as molecular and atomic cooling, trapping and spectroscopy, atomic clocks, and microcavities.

The Solstice <50 fs is a one-box ultrafast amplifier with exceptional stability. It features superior short-pulse width with long-term performance, low noise, and day-to-day reproducibility. Long-term stability is guaranteed over a 10°C temperature range to ensure reliable data collection. Spectra-Physics’ patented XP cavity provides excellent beam quality for driving optical parameter amplifier (OPA) systems with M2 <1.3. The new Solstice is ideal for many ultrafast applications including time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy, micromachining, and nonlinear optics.

Spectra-Physics’ new high power Matisse and Solstice scientific and ultrafast lasers will be featured at SPIE Photonics West, Moscone Center, San Francisco, CA, February 5 - 7, 2013.
