Newport Corporation Acquire The Products And Technology Of Vistek

Newport Corporation, a worldwide leader in lasers and photonics solutions that Make, Manage and Measure Light, announced today that it has acquired the products and technology of Vistek, a Tempe, Arizona-based manufacturer of advanced vibration isolation solutions.

The new products will be offered under Newport’s VIBe family of isolation products, and include mechanical isolation bearings, benchtop platforms and stand-alone workstations. All of the new products feature patented isolator bearing technology that provides maintenance-free vibration isolation for sensitive equipment.

These new products extend the range of capabilities and solutions that Newport can offer to customers who need to protect microscopes, laboratory balances or other sensitive equipment from vibration. These products can also reduce the amount of vibration that is transmitted into laboratory benches by vibrating equipment like mixers, centrifuges or impact testers.

Jim Fisher, Group Director for Newport’s Vibration Control business unit, stated, “Newport and Vistek have been working together since 2010, when we jointly developed Newport’s VIBe product offering. Since that time, we have brought this technology to new customers around the world to solve their unique vibration isolation challenges. This acquisition further expands our product offering in this area, and also brings us Vistek’s existing customer base. We are especially excited about the new products we will be able to bring to the market by expanding Vistek’s core patented technology.”

The new product lineup includes the compact LIP-Lab Isolation Platforms, which are specifically designed for lab balances, petri dishes and other small lab equipment and devices. These instruments are commonly susceptible to environmental vibrations created by HVAC equipment, elevators, automobile and foot traffic, shakers and other equipment. The LIP platforms include a PVC platform with a neoprene surface supported by three or four VIBe Vibration Isolation Bearings. These bearings are passive, mechanical bearings that employ patented https://www.newport.com/ technology.

Also in the new lineup are the VIT-laboratory workstations tables, which are used to isolate sensitive lab equipment from vibration. These tables are available in widths ranging from 30 to 72 inches and depths ranging from 30 to 36 inches and offer a wide range of payloads up to 500 pounds. The dedicated isolated area is recessed within the table, directly beneath the instrument, leaving the rest of the table open as a work area. The isolation area can be located on the left-hand side, right-hand side, or in the center of the table. Accessories including keyboard trays, shelves, cable and power management features, monitor stands and/or casters are also available. Newport can also provide customized versions of these tables for OEM’s or new lab build-outs.
