Chevrolet Dealership Improves Outdoor Lighting with EverLast Induction Luminaires

"They should move the showroom outside," said a salesman at the Kelly Chevrolet dealership regarding the recent lighting upgrade. In the summer of 2012, the Phoenixville, Pennsylvania Chevrolet dealer partnered with Schielle Thornton Electric to complete an initiative to significantly improve their outdoor lighting.

The local contracting company reviewed the existing lighting in their parking lot and after the initial assessment, Schielle Thornton contacted Atlantech Alliance to arrange an initial discussion for both improved illumination in addition to significant energy savings with the the dealership. "During the install we noticed that the lamp sizes already in the parking lot were two times as large. We knew that we could provide superior illumination and significant energy savings," stated Ryan Miller, Representative of Atlantech Alliance.

The EverLast® 250 watt Induction Shoebox fixture utilizes enhanced optics, improving fixture efficiency 30% and increasing overall light distribution by 35%, and the preliminary design analysis indicated a savings of 44% with a 15% increase in illumination in the parking lot area. The 250 watt Induction Shoebox fixture installation was intended to replace all of the 400w metal halide fixtures. However, during the installation they had confirmed that several of the fixtures were not actually 400w, but 1000w metal halide.

"EverLast® has designed enhanced features into its Shoebox fixture which exceeds most parking lot application requirements tied to upgrade initiative programs, and delivers a product which is Made in the U.S. Because EverLast® was proactive in the development of several features in the parking lot lighting solution; it eliminated tons of service related challenges. The ROI for EverLast® is monumental compared to other lighting solutions on the market," commented Miller. "Furthermore, the local community has increased interest tied to dark sky and improved quality of light because of the efficiency of the fixtures and the aesthetics of the parking lot."

When the project was completed the energy savings was greater than 62% and the increase of illumination was over 30%. The installation was an initial phase of an upgrade and provided the dealership with a positive experience where they can proactively manage and forecast future lighting upgrades.
