To meet the growing demands of Korean OLED industry, Universal Display and Duksan Hi-Metal Company have signed a master services agreement for expansions in Korea. Universal Display is an OLED licensor who supplies materials and technologies for lighting and energy-efficient OLED displays.
Duksan Hi-Metal manufactures electronic materials for OLEDs. Duksan will offer manufacturing services for one of the host products of Universal Display for specific Korean customers. Duksan will also explore other areas of collaboration that would help to support the needs of the Korean OLED industry better.
Universal Display and Duksan also announced having mutually agreed to dismiss all pending patent invalidation proceedings that involve the two companies in Korea.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Duksan Hi-Metal, Byoung Joo Kang, the agreement will be mutually beneficial to the companies. The combination of the experience of both the companies in mass-production and technical know-how is expected to garner substantial synergy effects.
President and Chief Executive Officer of Universal Display, Steven V. Abramson, said that Duksan houses a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility and an impressive team with high-quality manufacturing standards.
Duksan Hi-Metal features high-performance OLED technology and material. The company is well known for its Hole Transport Layer (HTL) material and the ton-based capacity of its state-of-art OLED manufacturing facility.
Universal Display displays leadership in energy-efficient phosphorescent OLED technology. Materials from the company provide four times more efficiency than conventional OLED technology. The relationship with Duksan complements Universal Display’s manufacturing relationship with PPG Industries, brining the company closer to its customer base.
