OFS has announced that its EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution, which is useful for multiple dwelling units and homes, will now be commercially available in the market. This optical solution will be displayed by OFS in booth # 335, at the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC), 2012, in Amsterdam.
The EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution makes use of an optical micro-cord having a diameter of 1 mm. Once this cord is installed in homes, it blends with the décor inside the homes and appears seamless. The micro-cord is first rolled by a simple process. The installer then enables the rolled micro-cord to adhere directly onto moldings, along corners of walls, or into grooves between walls and ceilings. OFS uses the EZ-Bend fiber in the EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution, which has the ability to conform to wall corners and contours while keeping the signal loss to a negligible limit.
Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) providers nowadays use Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) for the purpose of in-home networking in the homes of their subscribers. These ONTs are not favored by customers as they use conventional optical cables which are bulky, unappealing and require extensive installation procedures. Embedding of fibers behind wall ducts to conceal them is also a laborious and expensive procedure. However, OFS’s EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution can make up for all the challenges listed above.
OFS’s General Manager for Optical Connectivity Solutions, Linda Dembowski, stated happily that their EZ-Bend InvisiLight Optical Solution has been well accepted around the world by end-users as well as installers. She also said that landlords and homeowners who use this optical solution can feel the advantages of reduced installation charges, easy installation procedures and speedy deployment.
