Colordyne Technologies (CDT), AzTech Converting Systems and LasX Industries have collaborated to launch a new laser die cutting system at the Label Expo trade show. The CDT-1600 PC, built by AzTech is a high resolution digital printing system which consists of Colordyne's CDT-1600 PC print engine and LasX Industries' high-speed laser die cutting system.
The CDT-1600 PC is a fast and cost-effective integrated printing and converting system. The LasX Industries' V400 Laser System, which is integrated in this system can be used to kiss-cut, perforate and slit label materials.
The CDT-1600 PC Laser Pro is a production class printing system that delivers print speeds of up to 160 ft/min or 32 in/s in a single production line, with a print resolution of 1600 x 1200 dpi. It supports a maximum web width of 10 in. The system has an operator touch screen and precision servo web control. An electronic process controller and the LightGuide control software help maintain the consistency in score depths.
Registration mark sensors can trigger printing of registration details. Other systems such as a flexographic print/coating station with UV curing, a pneumatic waste windup system, and a lamination tower designed for applying over laminate can be added to the Colordyne's 1600 PC Laser Pro. Further, an adjustable underscore unit can also be attached to the system.
The president of Colordyne Technologies, Gary Falconbridge, commented that the addition of laser processing to the CDT-1600 enabled most of the label jobs to be laser converted at the maximum speed of the printer, thereby increasing its efficiency.
