Canon U.S.A., a renowned provider of consumer and industrial digital imaging solutions, has launched EOS M Digital Camera. Based on EOS technology, the EOS M incorporates the core technologies to deliver exceptional video capture features, maintaining high-quality still image capture.
The 18-MP APS-C-sized CMOS image sensor of EOS M camera ensure low-light image quality, a shallow depth of field, and an extended dynamic range for capturing fine gradation and detail while shooting still images.
The camera features EOS Full HD Movie mode with Movie Servo AF that enables consistent focus tracking of moving subjects. It includes incorporated stereo microphone, video snapshot mode with touch-screen editing, manual audio level adjustment, manual exposure control, and multiple resolution frame rates.
Additional features in the camera include Touch Screen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor II; 18.0-MP APS-C CMOS sensor; ISO 100–6400, ISO 100–12800 and high performance Powerful DIGIC 5 Image Processor; Hybrid CMOS AF; Multi-shot Noise Reduction; Scene Intelligent Auto mode; and advanced imaging features like HDR Backlight Control mode, Handheld Night Scene mode, and seven Creative Filters.
The camera can be used with SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, Canon’s GPS Receiver GP-E2, and Canon Speedlite accessories such as the new Speedlite 600EX and Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT.
Based on Canon’s Hybrid CMOS AF system, the EOS M integrates contrast AF and phase-difference AF to attain operational speed, stability, and precision. The camera utilizes three AF methods such as Multi-Point AF for automatic selection, Face Detection & Tracking AF, and Single-Point AF, enabling users to select one among the 31 AF points.
Canon’s new Stepping Motor (STM) technology uses either of the newly announced M-series lenses. The EOS M also includes an integrated stereo microphone having wind filter and an attenuator function, and manual audio level control to 64 levels. The EOS M will record MPEG-4 AVC H.264 video as an .MOV file in NTSC and PAL range of professional frame rates.
The EOS M can adopt 70 compatible lenses. It also features picture style settings with custom picture styles. Canon’s Video Snapshot mode is also available.
In addition to the EOS M, Canon has launched two new M-series lenses such as the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM kit lens or the optional EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. Apart from the two lenses, Canon’s EF and EF-S lenses can be utilized with the EOS M having optional Mount Adapter EF-EOS M.
The EOS M camera’s robust infrastructure provides stability to the complete line of EF and EF-S Lenses in a compact design. The adapter ensures integration within the EOS ecosystem of lenses.
Canon has also launched the Speedlite 90EX, a new compact and lightweight flash unit that can be used with EOS M1.
The new product line will be available in October.
