Eurofiber Expands Optical Transmission Services across Belgium and Netherlands with Infinera DTN Platform

Infinera and Eurofiber recently declared that 100 GbE (Gigabit Ethernet) services are available across Eurofiber's Belgium and Netherlands network using Infinera DTN platform.

Eurofiber runs a fiber optic network that stretches across the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. The network extends through 13,000 km with 590 industrial estates and over 5,400 connection sites. Eurofiber is an expert in offering service providers with Ethernet services, managed dark fiber connections, and Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) based Optical Transmission Services for carrying out businesses across the region.

Infinera DTN platform-based DWDM-network enables Eurofiber to expand its product line with the addition of 100 GbE services. Through this 100 GbE services, Eurofiber can offer dedicated services to its customers to cater to the increasing demand for bandwidth from Internet service providers, Internet exchanges, cable companies and data centers.

The Infinera DTN platform consists of 100 GbE, 40 GbE, and 10 GbE service interfaces for more versatile applications throughout regional, long-haul, and subsea deployments and has been specially created for optical transport network operators. The DWDM line-cards enables efficient operation and aids 40 Gb/s per wavelength coherent optical transmission, through which DTN platform can scale up to 6.4 Tb/s of transmission capacity per fiber. The DTN platform has led to the incorporation of DWDM optical transmission within OTN digital switching in a single system promoting high-performance. Driven by the convenient Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) technology, the Infinera DTN platform allows global network operators to transmit their networks with respect to their bandwidth requirements using a simple, scalable and powerful solution. Infinera's optical transport solution has been used by 99 worldwide customers.

Infinera DTN platform was first used in 2009 by Eurofiber.
