Digi-Key Provides Omron’s Fiber Optic Modules

Digi-Key, a global electronic components distributor, has declared that the fiber optic data modules and mini-modules of Omron Electronic Components are available in stock.

These fiber optic modules ensure overlay of different kinds of signals or channels on one optical fiber based on patented designs and proprietary manufacturing technologies. This results in the development of a unique, versatile and highly scalable product line, which allows customers to easily and quickly implement fiber optic solutions.

The SX4 mini-module is an optical subassembly module, which sends four video or data channels to a multimode fiber. The SX4 module is a fully integrated electrical-to-optical transmitter, which can be designed into different kinds of systems if a microcontroller is preprogrammed for optimal optical transmission on board.

The SX51 data module is a bidirectional optical module, which has an ability to send 155 Mb upstream and 14 GB/s downstream throughout a single multimode fiber. The data module is protocol-agnostic and can be arranged to suit a wide range of applications, thus enabling customers to differentiate between their products.

The data modules and the mini-module consist of an integrated SC clip, a durable metal housing, and provide transmission distances of 300 m up to 1 km over a single multimode fiber.

Yosi Okada, COO and President of Omron Electronic Components, stated that they are happy to work with Digi-Key to introduce Omron Network Product optical modules and evaluation boards. Okada also added that they are expecting to enlarge the customer base of Omron's technology-leading optical modules due to effective marketing platforms of the Digi-Key and the strength of the Digi-Key sales organization, customer service and inventory.

Dave Doherty, Vice President, Global Supplier and Product Operations at Digi-Key stated that fiber optic solutions are very popular and have high demand.

The integrated business model of the company offers support and product information online to guide engineers and procurement professionals to solve tough product development challenges.
