Panasonic recently unveiled the LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm/F2.8 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. (H-HS12035), a new digital interchangeable standard zoom lens. This new lens complements Panasonic’s superior lens brand "X" that adapts with the Panasonic LUMIX G Series and also meets the Micro Four Thirds system standard. This lens features constant F2.8 aperture brightness for the entire zoom range and is capable of versatile zoom range of 12-35mm.
The LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm/F2.8 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. lens utilizes the unique Nano Surface Coating technology from Panasonic which reduces reflections for the entire visual range from 380-780 nm, thereby generating clear picture quality without any ghosts and flare. With built-in POWER O.I.S. Optical Image Stabilizer, the lens can achieve large, slow movement as well as small, fast movement that enables clear capturing even in low-lit environments.
This new portable, compact lens measures around 73.8mm in length and weighs only 10.76oz. The rubber ring on the lens mount enables the new lens to withstand dust and splash and dust, making it effective for outdoor photography. Designed with a robust metal mount, it has extended durability.
The new lens system is made up of 14 lenses in nine groups. The Ultra Extra-Low Dispersion (UED) lens reduces chromatic aberration and the Ultra High Refractive (UHR) lens ensures high descriptive end-to- end performance, ideal for portraits.
The superior inner focus system of the lens offers excellent resolution and contrast without altering the comprehensive length from full life-size magnification to infinity. The aperture’s rounded shape is created by merging seven blades that provide the out-of-focus areas with smooth defocus effect, while shooting at larger aperture settings. The stepping motor-enabled inner focus system, when combined with lens's versatile design leads to smooth and near silent focusing action. This lens can be mounted on any LUMIX G Micro System camera body. Panasonic LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm/F2.8 ASPH./POWER O.I.S. (H-HS12035) lens will be available during August, this year.
