Gigaphoton Korea, a wholly owned subsidiary of Gigaphoton, a manufacturer of lithography light source, has commenced business activity on May 01, 2012.
Through its Korean subsidiary, Gigaphoton can now get new business from Korean device manufacturers. Moreover, the company can strengthen its local technical support system to help its existing Korean customers who are using Gigaphoton DUV laser for semiconductor lithography tools.
USHIO’s wholly owned subsidiary, USHIO KOREA was the sales representative of Gigaphoton for its excimer laser business. In May 2011, Gigaphoton became Komatsu’s 100% subsidiary when Komatsu acquired USHIO’s 50% stake in Gigaphoton. As a process of transition, Gigaphoton took over the Korean business from USHIO and established its wholly owned Korean subsidiary in August 2011. Subsequent to the conclusion of the business transition, Gigaphoton Korea was able to commence operation on the aforementioned date.
Korea is a major geographical market for the global semiconductor industry. Gigaphoton Korea will better customer support activities with the help of Gigaphoton. Moreover, Gigaphoton hopes that its Korean subsidiary will be helpful in developing strong relationships with semiconductor device manufacturers in Korea so that the company can speed up the advancement of EUV, which is recognized as the future-generation lithography light source.
The commencement of business operation of its Korean subsidiary is in line with Gigaphoton Group’s global business strategy. The establishment of Gigaphoton Korea will be helpful to strengthen Gigaphoton Group’s worldwide customer support system. Gigaphoton’s wholly owned US subsidiary was established in April 2008.
