Lumerical Solutions, a supplier of nanophotonic design software, declared the launch of INTERCONNECT 1.0, a photonic integrated circuit design domain for studying optical interconnects, silicon photonics components and integrated optical circuits.
Integrating time and frequency domain simulators, INTERCONNECT has the ability to interoperate with device-level design tools through its efficient simulation engine bidirectional, multimode circuit topologies. In addition, it also provides a powerful and versatile design platform to cater to the various demands in photonics.
INTERCONNECT presents a multimode modeling framework, fabricated to meet the complex issues in design. Lumerical's FDTD and MODE solutions-based electromagnetic device models can be in-built within INTERCONNECT circuit configurations, enabling the combination of complex device-level physics for real-time simulation of photonic integrated circuits.
Customized elements and element libraries can be designed by operators within INTERCONNECT to furnish the various needs of the silicon photonics industry. Using programmable custom circuit elements, designers can devise and construct at the block level. The larger community also has dynamic potentials to develop and extend element libraries in order to promote its experience with development costs and design, thereby optimizing with the industry standards.
INTERCONNECT integrates both time and frequency domain simulation engines, and serves as an ideal solution for any complexities with photonic integrated circuit design. As many current silicon photonic designs include high quality factor resonators, INTERCONNECT’s scattering data simulator enables designers to rapidly generate precision results.
Lumerical at present commercializes release 1.0 of INTERCONNECT.
