CommScope to Display Innovative Optical Solutions at TechAdvantage Conference and Expo

CommScope will participate in the TechAdvantage Conference and Expo that will be held from March 6 to 9, 2012 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. At the expo, the company will demonstrate how rural utilities can benefit by investing in copper substitute grounding wire and by deploying sophisticated broadband optical solutions.

CommScope’s Senior Vice President, Broadband, Ric Johnsen stated that the company’s advanced solutions will aid utilities to provide high bandwidth services and will also prepare them for potential broadband demands in the future.

The company’s BrightPath Optical Solution includes a complete suite of the outside plant, head-end and premises solutions. It allows utilities to select a product that fulfills present requirements yet offers a migration path to future technology. This end-to-end FTTx solution also cuts down power usage in the outside plant by reducing or removing active components. In fact, BrightPath Optical Solution customers can provide high bandwidth services while at the same time can completely leverage their present infrastructures. With the help of a radio frequency over glass network, customers can save significant energy costs.

In addition to BrightPath Optical Solution, the company will also display its GroundSmart Copper Clad Aluminum and Copper Clad Steel solutions at the expo.

Copper Clad Steel is becoming popular as it is affordable and ideal for grounding applications. It is a better alternative to pure copper wire. In fact, telecommunications operators and utilities are using practical alternatives to minimize operating expenditures and eliminate copper theft in rural areas, Johnson added.

GroundSmart Copper Clad Steel offers a secure and reliable substitute to stranded and solid copper. It can scatter lightning strikes and faulty currents at reduced cost of ownership. It is an electrical conductor, wherein its exterior sleeve of copper is metallurgically attached to a steel core. The Copper Clad Steel can be covered with a polyethylene coating and printed to either mask or differentiate the wire from solid copper substitutes. The Copper Clad Steel solution has featured in the list of ‘Top Products for 2011’ in Wire and Cable Technology International Magazine.

The Copper Clad Aluminum solution is ideal for electrical applications, where weight-to-conductivity and cost factors are critical. The company will also take part in the Pulse Broadband booth, wherein the BrightPath Optical Solution BOS solution will be on display.

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association is hosting the TechAdvantage 2012 Conference and Expo.
