Synova SA has entered into an OEM Agreement with Tokyo-based Makino Milling Machine, on January 1st, 2012, for the manufacture of Laser MicroJet (LMJ) machines based on Makino machine technology.
The new LMJ-machines concentrate on hard-material processing and high-precision metal industries. These markets anticipate procuring the equipment. The LMJ machines will be distributed in Japan, and will be commercialized subsequently to other parts of the world.
With the LMJ technology, the total cost of ownership in material processing has been reduced. The drilling of parallel kerfs is performed by the water-guided laser beam, without any heat impact. This will give rise to simplified operation procedures and increased production with only minimal waste residues. It also allows the production of materials that otherwise require intricate manufacturing process. With several significant advantages, this LMJ technology has an extensive application in several high-precision metal industries necessitating procedures such as semiconductor, hard-material, metal manufacturing.
Following this new manufacturing cooperation, Synova’s primeval process application will be integrated with Makino’s excellence that will promote the company to become a renowned industrial machine manufacturer. The LMJ machine’s first prototype has already been constructed and a beta-prototype will be available by 2012 spring. The new machine was constructed by Makino and commercialized by Synova under Synova’s brand.
Based in Tokyo, Makino presents an extensive array of EDM production and precision metal-cutting machinery. At present, Makino is one of the leading machine tool suppliers and has production, sales and services worldwide.
