Lightwave Logic, a company specializing in the advancement of future-generation, non-linear optical polymer materials for optical computing and fiber-optic high-speed data communication applications, has declared that its new organic non-linear optical materials have demonstrated superior photo and thermal stability and superior electro-optical properties in recently carried out tests by independent research laboratories.
These results are a major landmark of Lightwave Logic in the arena of organic non-linear optical materials. The new organic nonlinear optical materials will meet the needs of several end use markets such as optical computing, data communications and telecommunications. The company expects to leave the research and development phase in the fiscal year 2012 subsequent to the completion of confirmatory tests to be carried out by a leading microelectronics company.
Lightwave Logic’s Chief Executive Officer, Jim Marcelli stated that Perkinamine Indigo’s novel physical properties not only surpassed the standards that the company expected to reach, they also helped the company to produce products for data communication and telecommunication markets, paving the way to a huge revenue potential.
The Chief Technology Officer at Lightwave Logic, Dr. Louis Glasgow stated that Perkinamine Indigo’s superior electro-optical properties have been corroborated through independent tests carried out in the laboratories of Photon-X, Micron and the University of Colorado Boulder’s Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering. The material has exhibited superior photo bleaching resistance, thermal stability and r33 values that surpass 250 pm / V at 1550 nm, Glasgow said. These are preliminary results and further research is needed to exploit the full capability of Perkinamine Indigo in the development of prototype devices, he added.
