ADTRAN, an advanced network solutions supplier, declared that it has considerably expanded its Optical Networking Edge (ONE) product line in order to facilitate service providers with effortless service delivery and network operations and to expedite the time-to-revenue.
These novel ONE features offer flexible photonics and improved service delivery by launching an appropriate, compact Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (mini-ROADM) system-on-a-blade, tunable pluggable optics and multi-service optical transport network (OTN,ITU-T G.709) switchponder thus providing operators with a well-organized network architecture.
ONE, incorporated into ADTRAN’s Total Access 5000, enables an innovative union of business, residential and mobile backhaul services delivery with suitable packet optical transport. Some unique advantages of these novel packet optical features are accelerated service delivery and transport network installation, abridged network complexity, where its mini-ROADM offers system-on-a-blade with EDFA amplifiers, wavelength selective switch (WSS), auto power balancing, and optical monitoring, progressive aggregation and transport service facility up to 44 10G DWDM channels of 440G capacity, scalable to 88 channels (880G); and advanced network flexibility with integrated OTN networking, facilitating service providers to extend OTN scalability and aggregation to the network edge. The OTN Switchponder is a multiple service unit combining OTN switch with DWDM transponder on a single card. It supports the process of integrating ports and services, providing OTN switching, mapping, transport and aggregation capabilities, allowing operators to concurrently transport SONET/SDH, Ethernet or other services like Fibre Channel.
