Magnalight Launches Explosion-Proof Solar-Powered LED Light

Magnalight from Larson Electronics has introduced the EXPLED-SOL12 LED light, which is resistant to explosions. This light will have particular use in dangerous areas such as mines, rigs and remote unmanned maintenance sites.

Explosion proff LED light

This LED light is powered by solar energy and comes with a motion and day/night sensor. A 14.8 V LiPoly battery provides the charge for this light and this battery can be recharged by a 12W solar panel. This is also marine-rated, which means that it can be used in salt water too. The light has the capacity to illuminate an area of up to 50 ft long and 50 ft wide. It has the capacity to operate for duration of 15 h when the battery is charged for 5 h. While the LED light is fixed within the hazardous perimeter, the solar panel is fixed outside the danger area. The light has also been rated as Class 1 division 1 and Class 2 division 1 can be fixed through ceiling, wall or pendant mounts.

The housing of the light is made of aluminium, which is free from copper and has a finish of baked powder epoxy. According to Rob Bresnahan from Magnalight, this LED light is ideal for sites where workers do not visit often due to safety issues. Workers will also be able to see at great distances due to the illuminating capacity of the light. Magnalight specializes in providing portable and fixed light applications for refineries, rigs, paint spray booths and offshore locations.
