Applied Energetics has launched its ultrashort pulse (USP) laser product series. USP lasers also called ultrafast lasers or femtosecond lasers, emit quicklight pulses at increased power, and are able to ablate any material with increased accuracy without heat. This USP laser will be promoted by Applied Energetics as "The Wildcat" product series of commercial lasers.
The Company will first concentrate on the micromachining market and applications. The USP laser's high-power photons are capable of destroying the molecular bonds in materials, causing "cold" material elimination called ablation. This results in quicker, more accurate, and clear micromachining processes. USP lasers can treat semiconductors, hardened steels, quartz, ceramics, diamond, sapphire, polymers, and other difficult-to-machine substances.
Applied Energetics provides various advantages in its novel product series like providing improved performance thereby accomplishing the task quickly, and providing product versatility thereby provisioning the consumers to alter the repetition rate, pulse length, pulse modulation and harmonics. The company is experienced in developing sturdy military lasers for the U.S. navy and army, which aids in providing industrial solutions that are capable of withstanding industrial environments.
President of AE, Joseph Hayden stated that ultrashort pulse lasers have distinct abilities, providing applications that cannot be accomplished with other commercial lasers. He said that the USP laser is a new technology which is useful for industries like automotive, microelectronics, telecommunications, biotech, and medical equipment manufacturing. He added that the aim of the company with this product series was to develop a tough, small, consistent, and user-friendly USP laser system.
