Calculated Industries, a calculator and digital tool manufacturer, has introduced the Laser Dimension Master II (LDM II), an ultrasonic device for measuring distance. LDM II is used to measure indoor distances within 50 ft and provides a 99% accuracy.
The ultrasonic devices are easy to handle when compared to roll-up tapes. If the roll-up tapes are used for measurements, it will take a very long time. However, these ultrasonic devices are fast and precise, thus providing the required output within seconds. In order to measure the distance, the button in the device needs to be pressed and the laser beam is pointed to the surface or the wall. The distance from the device to the wall or surface will be measured. Two beeps are heard once the measurement is completed. As soon as the beep sound is heard, the output is displayed on the LCD display in the device in meters, feet or inches. It is also possible to measure the height from the floor to the roof, in a similar way without any need for ladders or step stools. LDM II is compact in size of about 5 in. length and protected by a zipped cover, so that it can be kept in purses or shirt pockets. LDM II features an integrated laser pointer or aimer in it.
LDM II finds applications mainly in the real estate industry, and is useful for land or property estimators, appraisers, building contractors, interior designers, decorators, painters, or for anyone who needs to take accurate indoor measurements.
