Manufacturer of LED lighting and semiconductor solutions, Cree has announced that the XLamp XT-E Royal Blue LED is commercially available. Optimized for remote phosphor lighting and for applications that require similar necessities, the XLamp LED is designed to deliver bright light and tight wavelength bins.
The XLamp Royal Blue LED is developed using the patented Direct Attach LED technology. It lowers forward voltage and the thermal resistance and also produces higher flux. At 350 mA, the LED delivers up to 525 mW. It is available in 2.5 nm wavelength bins, thus allowing customers to gain the required color consistency.
The company has also launched a patent licensing program for remote phosphor components, which allows access to remote and original phosphor patents of Cree. The patent program will allow the lighting fixture manufacturers to develop their own LED system products by using the XLamp XT-E Royal Blue. Lighting OEMs with a patent license can also access several Cree patents in order to produce and use blue LED-based remote phosphor optical elements in LED lighting applications.
The senior marketing director-LED components at CREE, Mike Watson stated that the remote phosphor designs are used by customers to achieve consistent color and high output. It also allows customers to design low cost and high performance systems.
