A provider of networking solutions and communications equipment, ADTRAN declared that the company has been chosen as the vendor for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Broadband Stimulus buildout by the wholly based subsidiary of Xfone based in Texas, NTS Communications.
Designed to achieve scalability, the GPON solution Total Access 5000 resolves network issues faced by NTS with the deployment of over-the-top video services and HD IPTV. Over 25,000 NTS subscribers will benefit at the end of the three year FTTH project.
The Vice President-Data Services at NTS, Milton Schober stated that the GPON solution earlier used by the company was not able to handle the demands of OTT video, multi-megabit data services or HD IPTV. The ADTRAN solution, Total Access 5000 eliminated reliability problems and provided scalability required to meet project demands. Additionally, the Total Access 5000 also supports new services offered by NTS, such as mobile backhaul. NTS plans to add Active Ethernet to their product offering in the near future, which too will be supported by the GPON solution provided by ADTRAN.
The ADTRAN GPON solution ensures future-proofing of networks. Featuring a multi-terabit backplane, the solution provides advanced scalability, unmatched capacity and provides a migration path which allows service providers to meet demands by reinventing their network. The flexibility provided by Total Access 5000 allows service providers to launch new services easily.
