Leoni Fiber Optics Creates Polymer Optical Fiber Cables for Indoor and Outdoor Applications

Leoni Fiber Optics has designed a range of Polymer Optical Fiber (POF) cables. POF cables are essential for creating a wiring system, which can be installed easily to meet the demands of the higher bandwidth transmission required by services such as digital television, Internet telephony and other Triple Play services.

A POF cable is essentially a polymer cladding surrounding a fiber core and it offers high flexibility and advanced transmission technology.

Leoni’s synthetic POF fiber cables feature protective buffers, fiber optic core sizes, colors and outer jackets, end terminations and numerical apertures. The POF cable designed by Leoni has already proven to be beneficial in various industrial, scientific and medical applications. Designed for both outdoor and indoor applications, the POF cables offer various benefits such as EMC security, low weight, no crosstalk and clear galvanic separation. Additionally, the cables are also highly resistant to oil and UV.

The POF cables designed by Leoni can bridge distances of approximately 230 ft (70 m), thus making it suitable for application in home, small office and industrial networks. With additional active components, distance of approximately 490 ft (150 m) can be bridged as well.

The POF cables include V-4Y 1P980/1000, V-2Y 1P980/1000, l-V4Y (ZN)11Y 1P980/1000 HEAVY and l-VY(ZN)Y 1P980/1000.
