Developer of solid-state-based plasma light engines, Topanga Technologies’ Advanced Plasma Lighting (APL) system will be introduced at the LIGHTFAIR International that was conducted from 17 to 19 May 2011 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The APL system consists of a quartz bulb devoid of an electrode for functioning as the intense plasma light’s near point source, a superior efficacy radio frequency power amplifier and a digital interface to optimize management and control.
Topanga will display its APL systems specifically engineered for well-known lighting fixtures at the show. The company will demonstrate the precise optics and superior versatility capabilities of the APL system using Grandlite Design’s two successful area and roadway luminaires, and 0energyLIGHTING’s PLASMALEKO and HIGHBAY-mini luminaire. The system’s compact and point source attributes these capabilities to it.
Architectural SSL Magazine selected the APL system for the platinum medals in the 2011 Product Innovation Awards under the ‘components’ category in April 2011. The magazine will present the award at its press conference to Topanga Technologies in the LIGHTFAIR show.
According to the Chief Executive Officer at Topanga, Greg Barry, the APL system is designed to offer superior brightness and energy efficacy lighting than the existing Plasma lighting, LED, fluorescent and induction technologies available in the market.
