GT Solar International proclaimed that it has inked a deal with Tera Xtal Technology, a LED wafer producer based in Taiwan, to deliver Tera Xtal sapphire cores for expanding Tera Xtal’s epitaxial-ready LED wafer production.
GT Solar International supplies silicon and sapphire crystalline materials, growth systems, and polysilicon manufacturing technology for the LED, solar and other specialty industries. The company’s new sapphire manufacturing plant allows it to produce more quantity of superior quality sapphire material for its customers.
Initially, GT Solar will distribute the sapphire material to both specialty and LED industries. However in future, as its equipment clients increase their production, the company anticipates supplying more material to the specialty market customers involved in the production of medical devices, high-energy lasers, and applications demanding huge area substrates for the defense and aerospace industries.
The President at Tera Xtal, Steven Liu commented that the company is expanding its epi-ready wafers production to fulfill the growing demands of its customers. The company anticipates continuing its association with GT Solar, he said.
The Chief Executive Officer and President at GT Solar, Tom Gutierrez commented that the company is happy about the new distribution deal with Tera Xtal. The deal further reinforces the quality of the sapphire manufactured by the company’s patented, sophisticated sapphire furnaces, he added.
