Guizhou Haotian Optoelectronics Technology has placed an order, worth $218.9 million, with GT Solar International for its sophisticated sapphire crystallization furnaces.
Sapphire Crystallization Furnaces
GT Solar International supplies silicon and sapphire crystalline materials and growth systems, and polysilicon manufacturing technology for the LED, solar and other specialty industries. The new order scripts Guizhou Haotian Optoelectronics’ entry into the growing LED market and reinforces GT Solar’s sophisticated sapphire crystalline growth technology in the related market.
The order will be added in the backlog of GT Solar for its first quarter fiscal year, which concludes on 2 July, 2011. The company acquired the sophisticated sapphire furnace technology by purchasing Crystal Systems in July 2010. Crystal Systems supplies superior sapphire materials for the LED, specialty mechanical and optical markets.
The Chairman of Guizhou Industrial Investment Group, Hao Xu commented that Guizhou Haotian Optoelectronics Technology’s new sapphire production plant would make the company as a top provider of sapphire materials to the LED market.
The President and Chief Executive Officer at GT Solar, Tom Gutierrez stated that the company is happy to receive the supply order for its sophisticated sapphire crystallization furnaces.
